I'm Lassi — an ICT Specialist based in Tampere, Finland, working at Elmo. My job is hard to sum up in a single sentence, and that's exactly what makes it interesting. One day I'm mounting a 100-inch display on a wall, the next I'm planning a wireless network deployment across a multi-floor office, and the day after that I'm onsite helping people through a Microsoft tenant migration — moving PCs and laptops from one environment to another, and being the person they can actually talk to while everything changes around them.
I've been working in ICT for over 13 years. I started out installing point-of-sale systems, moved through helpdesk and field engineering, and gradually found my way to where I am now: networking and onsite IT, which is where I focus today.
Networking is my main focus — switches, routers, fiber, and wireless. Just as much of my work is hands-on and onsite: being the person who's physically there to make sure things actually get done. I especially enjoy finding ways to automate the repetitive parts — the kind of upfront work that saves everyone time down the line.
These days I'm learning the modern Microsoft side — Autopilot, Intune, and the endpoint world. I can handle the everyday tasks and find my way around, but I'm honest about where I'm at: security policies, group management, and how all the pieces fit together is something I'm still growing into. I'd rather ask, learn, and get it right than pretend I already know.
Outside of work, I'm a maker and doer at heart — always with some project on the go. I run a homelab that I'm constantly fiddling with; it's even capable of hosting game servers when friends need one. AI tools are a big part of how I work and tinker: I use Claude, Copilot, Gemini, and NotebookLM day to day, and I've also run models locally on my own machine — LM Studio with Nemotron and DeepSeek, and image generation through Automatic1111 and ComfyUI. I'm comfortable with these tools, and just as mindful of the security and privacy questions that come with them.
I've played Counter-Strike 2 competitively in Finnish leagues — both Kanaliiga and Pappaliiga (the 30-and-over league), at one point juggling two teams in different leagues at once. I also stream on Twitch now and then when time allows.
Away from screens, I like making and fixing physical things — car sound system installs, metalworking, woodworking, and mechanical repair, with 3D printing next on my list. I've also been hitting the gym regularly (bench press is the favorite, even if I'm still working on the numbers), and come May I'm glued to the Ice Hockey World Championship.
I learn best by doing. I'm confident in what I know, honest about what I don't, and always looking for the next thing to figure out.
